Nature Connection Practices

How To Play

1. Prepare.

  • This is a playful exploration so allow it to go wherever it flows.
  • Be open and curious, take a child-like approach.
  • Give yourself at least 30 mins for the experience (although you can spend an entire day doing this too).
  • Grab a journal and some pens or pencils.

2. Select A Card

  • Choose a card by clicking on one that you are most drawn to.
  • In your journal, note down the keywords, Life's Principle or activity that is detailed on the back of your card.
  • You can also include anything that stood out to you in the image on the front of the card e.g. colours, patterns, texture, species, etc.
  • Take a phone screen shot if you need to.

3. Go Outside

  • Find a spot in or near nature to settle in (this could be your patio or garden, however the wilder the place the more exciting the adventure).
  • Take 3 deep breaths.
  • Drop your awareness to your heart, feel a deep sense of gratitude for what you love most in the world and hold onto that feeling.

4. Set Intention.

  • Set your intention for this experience.
  • An example might be:
  • "I set the intention now to playfully explore both inner and outer nature with child-like curiosity and openness."

5. Explore.

  • Using the keyword or principle that you noted in your journal as inspiration, observe and explore your surroundings.
  • Let your attention settle on an aspect of nature that you feel drawn to - this could be a tree, a plant, an animal, a bird, an insect, the soil, nearby water, or the sky.
  • Nature often communicates in subtle ways so be curious about what is calling your awareness. It is meaningful - even if your understanding only unfolds over time.

6. Be Inspired.

  • You’ll note that the keywords on some of the cards are human-centric. They depict different experiences that we encounter along our journeys.
  • We’re playing with the idea that these experiences may be reflected in nature too.
  • Be enchanted by the magic of nature and explore your surroundings to find examples both physical or metaphorical.

7. Connect.

With much love,

Jane.
